Engineering Drafting Specialist

Job Summary
Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data related to manufacturing of patient room furniture (overbed tables, mother baby equipment, casegoods, carts) and suction & oxygen therapy medical devices (flowmeters, suction regulators).

  • Industry working experience with SolidWorks 2023 SP5.0 or above and proficient in SolidWorks PhotoView 360
  • Must pass the Amico Patient Care Mechanical Aptitude Test (APC-MAT) with a score of 90% or above
Job Duties & Responsibilities
The Engineering Drafting Specialist will work within a team of engineers and developers to perform one or more of the following:
  • Be part of a product development team working on support of current products and new product development initiatives
  • Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data
  • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets to support contracts and tender documents
  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
  • Perform calculations and analyses under supervision
  • Operate CAD and drafting workstations
  • Participate in design reviews for new parts and products when required
  • Assist in any other duties as required by the Drawing Team Leader and Engineering Manager

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 2-3 years of proven relevant working experience in the area of engineering design and draft technology using SolidWorks for 3D solid modelling and 2D drawing/detailing
  • Must be enrolled in the Engineering-In-Training (EIT) Program from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Working knowledge of drafting standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5) and GD&T
  • Working knowledge of furniture design and development preferre
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks PDM an asset
  • SolidWorks certification
