Live Event & Streaming Technician

The Live Event & Streaming Technician is responsible for all live streaming functions in the Studios & Broadcast Services department under the direction of the Videographer and Event Manager. They manage the video and audio signals to and from live streaming devices and computers and monitors the stream throughout the production. They use their knowledge of live streaming protocols, codecs, encoding hardware and software and connections to data networks, and the internet to ensure a stable and quality stream. When not involved in streaming the Jr Live Event Streaming Technician works with the broadcast and video production teams on other projects.
Required Educational Qualifications
College Degree or Diploma and three years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to 3+ years.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uphold audio and video standards by resolving technical issues to ensure consistent, high-quality results
Troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues within a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Maintain a logical, calm, and efficient approach
Tech-savvy, have an eye for quality and consistency
Basic understanding of audio signal flow and managing broadcast-quality sound levels.
Possess a basic understanding of cloud computing and network configurations
Ability to take ownership, lead, execute and deliver under strict time constraints
Guide presenters and optimize camera framing to ensure a high-quality broadcast picture
Configure & manage OBS scenes, integrate graphical elements to ensure a professional, polished broadcast layout
Communicate key information with other technicians, camera operators, supporting team members, and managers
Understand and respond to concerns, resolving issues diplomatically & professionally
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to setup and run portable live streaming equipment
Technically minded with a proven ability to master new tools and workflows quickly
Ability and motivation to improve processes, reliability, and efficiency of systems related to streaming
Flexibility to work evenings and occasionally on weekends
Ability to stay focused with a keen eye for detail
Ability to work in a high functioning team environment and remain calm under pressure
Adobe Suite Efficiency: Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop etc.
Proficiency in Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office applications
Basic to intermediate proficiency with Live streaming software (e.g., OBS)
Familiarity with Video Conferencing software (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, Google Meet etc.)
Good communication skills and a mindset for customer service
Outgoing personality capable to guide a group of employees during shoots and ability to work with strong personalities
Basic knowledge of using closed captions / open captions
Manage mixers and hardware encoders with an understanding of compression and codecs for optimal stream quality.
Knowledge in tailoring Video Exports and Livestreams for social media (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, Facebook) to meet specific platform technical standards like bitrate, aspect ratio, framerate etc.
Solid grasp of camera operation, including composition, white balance, and exposure, with an understanding of how lighting conditions affect the shot. Proficiency in color workflows—such as basic correction, grading, LUTs, and Log formats - is an asset
Familiarity and passion for visual AI engines, such as Seedance, Google Veo, Midjourney, Nano Banana etc. - is an asset

Salary Range: $45,000 - $48,000
